BioI'm 32 years old, I have two sons and a wonderful fantastic husband. We have a large family farm that my parents run & I work (slave?) on constantly. We breed quarter horses and appendix (tb crosses) suitable for every discipline, though we try mainly for color. We're the largest breeder of palomino and Skipper W horses anywhere - with the greatest collection of original Weiscamp stock in one place.
There are about 300 horses on the farm right now, on 1000 acres total of land. I train horses for the farm every year, among other things, but I love the training best; being able to take a yearling who hasn't had a lot of handling and teach him how to interact with people and carry a rider and behave is the most fulfilling feeling in the world. Especially when we get compliments on how well-behaved they are from their new owners down the line!
I have many other pets besides the horses, too. My personal passion is birds. I've currently got four budgies (parakeets) and they are breeding so I'll have my first budgie-babies around August of '06. I also have a CAG (Congo African Grey) named Loki. He's a year old as of July 22, 2006. I bought him from a breeder & took him home on Halloween day in 2005. He's starting to talk & he makes TONS of noises (car alarm, phone, pda's hot-sync, smoker's cough, etc.). We have a sugar glider and a mini schnauzer too, very wonderful and beloved pets.
On the farm, we have a pygmy goat and 10 dogs (my Mother breeds & sells registered dobermans) and a homing pigeon and a pot bellied pig and a full-grown hog, and -tons- of cats, and llamas and donkeys and cattle and of course the 300 horses. My family as a whole is animal-crazy, so that's where my sons and I get it. My husband likes animals, but he's more of a participant in whatever we do than he is anything else. I think the animals overwhelm him from time to time, but his heart is in the right place.
I'm interested in making friends who are also animal lovers, and in particular who love birds or have and breed them. Or anyone interested in horses and training too. Or, really, anyone who shares -any- of my interests & doesn't mind that the majority of my posts will be about birds & horses. :P
